Fabryan – Black swan

Darkness has been turbulent throughout this season within fashion with references to gothic romanticism. Here at Fabryan we turned our inspiration to the psychological thriller and horror film Black Swan.

Released in 2010, the film embarks upon the exploration of a young girl whom starts to slowly lose her mind, transforming from a white swan to be more like Odile; The Black Swan. This in fact mirrors the changes within the industry this year between the bright spring/summer collections, to the dark and black autumn winter that currently prevails.

The film was said to be inspired by the 19th century Romantic ballet era. The era represented how romanticism in art and literature provided the foundations of inspiration for the ballet.

Fashion romanticism have been intrinsically linked this season. The romantic ballet era lead to the decline of male dancers, therefore celebrating the importance of women and their influence within the ballet. Fabryan’s ‘Saiva’ dress celebrates the natural shape of women. This dress is certainly for women who dare to be bold.

The fur rug, fire place and arm chair is the perfect setting for the themed shoot. The model wears Fabryan’s Saiva Dress, a statement handmade piece of couture and elegance. One shoulder asymmetric dress with a prominent black bow detail. The hand sewn silk organza ruffles forms the skirting of the dress. The model has dramatic dark eye make-up. Her thick and sensual lashes is very similar to the look of Nina Sayers, played by the talented Natalie Portman in the Black swan film.

The hair was styled by celebrity hairstylist Kasia Fortuna, who layered voluminous curls, drawing them back, resting the curls upon the models head.

The style represents a woman with power and confidence, a woman who is her own. This is the FABRYAN woman.

Saiva dress by Fabryan is one of our distinctive signature pieces which has been featured in Vogue.
